Welcome to my humble attempt at blogging. I am a pastor in the United Methodist Church, a father of three and a husband of one. Currently I serve at a church in Batavia, but most of my effort is with the outreach site in Aurora. We are the “Church in a Box.” Check us out at www.flowing-grace.com and if you are in town, come and see us. I do not suggest that on this blog you will find anything life-changing, earth-shattering or even very funny. But, you will read an honest attempt to share the sacred with the holy. You will understand that I am desperate to DO SOMETHING about my faith. You will discover a pastor that doesn’t claim to have the answers, but seeks the moment where the Holy Spirit can enter in and teach us something together. You will find a pastor willing to extend a hand for a journey into faith together with you. You will definitely find a pastor who seeks a hand to help him on his own journey. If you find that helpful, I am glad you are here! Even if you do not, I am glad you are here.
Enough about me. Why the blog? One thing I have discovered in my ministry is that most people are scared to be evangelists, fearing they will turn into a Bible-banging, hand raising, Christian music listening freak. It is not the nature of most of us to be so forth-coming with our faith. However, I also see how those who have deep faith are blessed beyond imagination and have a deep desire for others to know about that faith. So, the concept of the moment is clear and simple. Even those who do not profess a belief in Christ, have moments when they are openly seeking or desiring the truth. We know the truth to be in Christ and his love, hope, peace and joy. So, this blog is an attempt to celebrate the moments when we as human beings are not only open to the holy, but touch the holy. This blog is an attempt to share stories of a momentary glimpse of truth and also to guide us all to be more open to our own moments of availability to the Holy Spirit and the moments of others. Maybe, we might be able to identify the moment a friend is ready to listen for God and be ready and able to respond to that moment. Or, at the very least, it will be a fun way to share some pretty cool stories of people I have encountered. Take a moment and read a bit.
today i sat to eat my lunch. i rarely watch tv, but turned it on and there you were with a wonderful message from God; God, I will follow You, in all that i do. it was fate that i had the privlege of listening to your sermon. i am very interested in attending a service and hoped you might let me know when you lead services at the batavia church? i was raised catholic and quite frankly the homily was the key element for me (i always hoped it would be communicated as a learning tool as opposed to making you feel guilty about not attending every sunday.) any way, great job! you made alot of sense to me and i appreciate that you were on the air after i hit the power button on the clicker! respectfully, terri
